Radiothon Raises Over $150,000
Cornwall and area has displayed its generosity yet again.
Over $150,000 was raised during the first ever Corus Cares Radiothon, far exceeding organizers' expectations.
The radiothon was held on Friday, February 24th, with all three Corus radio station broadcasting the event from 7 am to 7 pm. Cornwall Square was mission centre, with several volunteers manning the phones and radio personalities interviewing celebrities. Throughout the day, special audio vignettes were broadcast highlighting citizens and hospital staff alike.
Cornwall Community Hospital campaign co-chair Tom Kaneb told Jewel 1220 News it was amazing how many people picked up the phone. Corus Entertainment General Manager Scott Armstrong says another radiothon is a possibility down the road.
