Connie Vardy, the former manager of Cornwall’s Scotiabank branch, has been named the Executive Director of the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation.

“I am excited by the prospects of working with the hundreds of volunteers and donors who allow the Foundation to achieve its goals”, said Ms. Vardy. “Modern health care services and the ability to attract qualified doctors and nurses remains a priority for our community.”

Ms. Vardy held various positions with Scotiabank until July of this year. Since moving to Cornwall in 2002, she has supported dozens of community initiatives and is a former board member of the Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce and Team Cornwall.

The Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation exists to raise funds for the Cornwall Community Hospital. It is run by a volunteer Board of Directors, led by chair Roy Perkins.

“The Foundation Board is thrilled to welcome Connie to her new role as Executive Director”, said Roy Perkins. “Her wealth of business experience and ability to network with key community leaders will help us move forward on future Foundation projects. Her leadership and compassion will ensure success and growth for years to come.”

The money raised by the Foundation helps fund capital expansion and renovation projects, the purchase of equipment, and the provision of ongoing financial support to maintain quality health care programs and services for our community. Most recently, the Foundation completed the Our Hospital, Our Future campaign, a major fundraising campaign that was successful in raising over $12 million for the redevelopment of the Cornwall Community Hospital.

“The Foundation is an important partner in helping the hospital meet the needs of the community”, said Jeanette Despatie. “The monies donated by generous members of our community through the Foundation help support the work of the doctors, nurses and professional staff of the hospital.”
