The Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation presented a cheque for $1.2 Million to Cornwall Community Hospital today. The cheque represents the community portion of the Early Works project, which is scheduled to begin this fall.

The cheque was presented to Rosaire Leger, Chair of the Hospital Board by Roy Perkins, Chair of the Foundation Board of Directors.

“This contribution is only possible due to the generosity of individuals, organizations and companies who supported the fundraising campaign”, said Roy Perkins. “Everybody can be proud that they have helped ensure the redevelopment project proceeds. This phase of construction will result in new Labour/Delivery /Recovery Suites, and renovations to the Critical Care Unit and Emergency Departments.”

“The Foundation plays a vital role towards ensuring that the Hospital can meet its goal of providing compassionate health care services to the people of Cornwall and region”, said Jeanette Despatie. “This contribution today ensures that our Early Works project proceeds as planned.”

The Foundation’s “Our Hospital, Our Future” campaign was the largest fund raising campaign in the history of the region. It ran for over 18 months and came to a close in March 2006, raising an unprecedented $12,167,887. The campaign's goal was to raise $12 million of the projected total costs to redevelop the Cornwall Community Hospital. The remainder of the funds raised in the Our Hospital, Our Future campaign will go towards offsetting the remainder of the Redevelopment Project, which is slated to begin in 2008.

The Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation exists to raise funds for the Cornwall Community Hospital. With the successful close of the redevelopment campaign, the Foundation is now turning its attention towards raising money to support the purchase of much needed medical equipment.
