Trillium Ball raises funds for new Opthamology Microscope
An illustrious affair, the Trillium Ball is an annual gala in support of the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation.
From the prominent guests to the dazzling décor and elegant dinner, this exquisite black tie gala was held at the Best Western Parkway Inn & Conference Centre on Saturday May 5th, 2007, raising over $80,000 for a new Ophthalmology Microscope.
Delighted with this new purchase, Chief of Ophthalmology Dr. Christine Suess said “The new equipment will greatly aid the ophthalmologists as this new microscope will be used for surgeries where doctors need to make extremely precise incisions, such as in the removal of cataracts, corneal transplant surgery or emergency eye surgery.”
“Estimating that ophthalmologists complete over 1,600 cataract surgeries a year, this equipment will greatly benefit the Cornwall Community Hospital and its patients.”
Funds from the Trillium Ball made the purchase of this state-of-the-art equipment possible thanks to the dedication and commitment of the Event Committee. Co-Chair Lynn Chauvin was thrilled with this year’s outcome. “With more people attending, an increase in Partnerships along with our new Patron opportunity in support of our Honourary Chairs, this year’s event proved to be highly successful.”
In April, the Trillium Ball Committee announced that Dr. Ralph Randlett and Dr. Mary Jane Randlett – respected physicians in the Cornwall medical community since 1955 and 1991 respectively – would be Honourary Co-Chairs for this year’s gala.
The Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation thanks all who were involved, the organizing committee, the business sponsors and everyone who attended. This year’s Gala was not only exquisite but also proved to be rewarding since enough funds were raised to meet an important need in the Hospital.
