Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation
Fast Facts
Redevelopment Project and Capital Campaign

Here are some quick facts about the redevelopment project:

  • The redevelopment project is a combination of new construction and renovated space and will cost $59.9 million. Of the total, 74% will be devoted to new construction.
  • The new wing (88,000 square feet) will be home to a new Diagnostic Imaging Department, new Emergency Room and new Surgical Suite and will be able to serve the combined volumes currently being provided at the two sites.
  • The vast majority of patient activity will occur in the new addition - 200,000 patient visits a year.
  • Renovations (48,000 square feet) will be completed in Obstetrics, the Mental Health wing and ICCU, as well as to accommodate Dialysis Services.
  • The 100 modern beds in the 15-year old Janet MacDonell Pavilion will be converted from a Complex Continuing Care facility to an Acute Care facility.
  • Second Street site will continue to be used until redevelopment is completed in 2010. We are currently determining the best use for the building post construction. During the construction period, the Second Street site will allow us to temporarily relocate some services until the McConnell site is fully operational.
  • The new Cornwall Community Hospital will offer the services of 40 departments covering the full continuum of primary care, including Emergency Room, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Mental Health, Diagnostics and Surgery.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2006 and will be completed by 2010.
