Corus Caring Hearts
Event Recap - 2008
The most exciting event of the year - the 2nd Annual Corus Caring Hearts Radiothon was broadcast live at the Cornwall Square on all three Corus stations: Variety 104.5, Rock 101.9 and AM1220 on Wednesday April 9th between 6am and 7pm. Listeners throughout the community were encouraged to call-in and pledge their support for new medical equipment. Featuring special interviews and commentaries from patients, medical staff, volunteers and local celebrities, this exhilarating event helped raised a colossal $120,226.21 for the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation.
"Events such as the Corus Caring Hearts Radiothon are exemplary opportunities where our community collectively makes a difference" said Foundation Executive Director, Connie Vardy. "We are so grateful for the support we receive because contrary to public belief, the Government does not provide hospitals with the necessary funds to purchase new equipment rather they merely help pay to repair outdated pieces. Eventually, outdated technology can no longer be repaired and must be replaced."
Since the Foundation relies entirely on public support to help keep the Cornwall Community Hospital equipped with the latest in medical technology, every dollar pledged from this year's event is greatly appreciated. Funds collected will directly impact our hospital and the organizing committee wishes to thank everyone who supported the cause.
If you would like to participate in future Foundation events, or missed the opportunity to support the Radiothon, please send an email at foundation@cornwallhospital.ca or call the office at 613-930-4508 to find out how you can support your hospital.
